When comparing metals, it can be a tough choice on what to go for. We have found over the years the most popular choices are Gold or Platinum.

Platinum has a 95% purity, it is naturally white and due to its purity it is a popular choice for those with sensitive skin or allergies. It is strong and durable, making it ideal to hold the most precious gemstones. It can be worked on and sized as with any other precious metal.

It is also rarer than gold and with fewer mines; therefore the price of platinum is higher. Platinum jewellery weighs over a third more than the same piece of 18ct gold jewellery. All jewellery will scratch over time, but Platinum won’t loose any of its volume when polishing the scratches out.

Gold is a classic, whether it be yellow gold or white or rose, no precious metal is as legendary and beautiful as Gold. Its rarity, beauty, and enigma have provided it with status as a valuable commodity throughout the history of humanity.

Gold is the most malleable and ductile metal, which makes it very easy to work with. There are different standards of Gold, the two most common in the UK is 9ct which is 37.5% pure, and 18ct which is 75% pure.
